INVESTING IN KANSAS CITY
Since 1971, Hunt Midwest Enterprises, Inc. has invested over $332 million in its Kansas City area operations, including over $254 million in its surface and residential real estate holdings including the SubTropolis underground business complex.
PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT FOR AREA RESIDENTS
- Since 1985, Hunt Midwest has employed nearly 55,000 employees with a payroll of over $305 million. Hunt Midwest currently employs over 60 local residents in its corporate and real estate divisions.

SubTropolis, Hunt Midwest’s underground business complex, is home to nearly 50 businesses with 1,500 jobs for Kansas City residents.
CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY
- Hunt Midwest is a major corporate sponsor of the Groundhog Run, a 5K and 10K run held annually in SubTropolis, which has contributed over $3.4 million since 1982 to benefit the Children’s Therapeutic Learning Center.
- The company also supports a variety of local charitable activities including the Starlight Theatre Association, the Kansas City Zoo, the Kansas City Rep, the Kansas City Symphony, Northland Charities, Northland Neighborhoods, and Union Station.
- Support for national charitable causes includes the Arthritis Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
- Support aimed at helping children includes the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, the Heart of America Council-Boy Scouts of America, the Northland Children’s Fountain, Children’s TLC, YMCA, Science City, the Kansas City Chiefs Children’s Charity Fund as well as area school districts.

Along with company supported charitable causes, the employees of Hunt Midwest generously support the United Way. The company’s employees, in combination with corporate matching funds, have contributed over $1,425,000 since 1987.
CIVIC LEADERSHIP
Hunt Midwest is committed to providing civic leadership in the greater Kansas City area, as well as in the states of Missouri and Kansas. This commitment is demonstrated through the company’s strong presence in the area’s chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and civic groups. Additionally, financial support is provided to many state and national funds and federations.
